A booking platform built around how MAS actually works

Mosaic Art Studio's classes, walk-ins, and private group bookings never fit a generic scheduler's template. WBC built one that adapts to the studio, instead of the other way around.

THE CLIENT

A studio that had already tried the easy answer

Mosaic Art Studio (MAS) runs a mix of recurring art classes, walk-in sessions, and private group bookings — and had already cycled through off-the-shelf booking tools before coming to WBC. The problem was never that those tools were poorly built. It was that they were built for someone else.

The challenge: generic tools, specific business

Off-the-shelf platforms like BookThatApp are built around the most common booking scenario — one customer, one service, one time slot. MAS needed four different session types, each with its own pricing, capacity, and cancellation rules, and no amount of workaround configuration made that fit a fixed template.

  • Limited customization: generic booking apps couldn't adapt to MAS's specific service structure or business rules.
  • Rigid workflows: existing platforms forced MAS into predetermined booking patterns instead of the other way around.
  • Poor integration: little to no connection with the other systems MAS already used to run the business.
  • A scalability ceiling: the tools that worked at a small scale weren't built to grow with the studio.
  • A generic look and feel: every screen from booking to confirmation carried the platform's branding, not the studio's.
  • Thin reporting: dashboards surfaced generic totals, not the specific metrics MAS's management actually needed.

The solution: a platform that adapts to MAS, not the reverse

WBC built MAS a fully custom booking management web application — a flexible scheduling engine designed around the studio's actual session types, with its own rules, pricing, and availability logic for each, and no generic template underneath.

01

Custom booking engine

Multi-service booking support with dynamic pricing and real-time conflict detection, built around MAS's actual mix of classes, walk-ins, and private sessions.

02

Branded experience

An interface, booking flow, and role-based access control matched to MAS's brand and staff structure — not a third-party widget dropped into the site.

03

Management dashboard

Calendar and list views, customer profiles with booking history, resource allocation tracking, and automated reminders and updates.

04

Real-time synchronization

WebSocket-driven updates keep booking status and availability accurate everywhere at once, with conflict resolution for simultaneous booking attempts.

Delivered with the discipline of a real engineering process

The build ran on structured sprints with weekly client calls, tracked in Jira with documentation in Confluence — giving MAS visibility into progress and a direct channel for feedback throughout, rather than a black box that reappeared at launch.

✓ Outcome

A booking system that doesn't ask MAS to adapt to it — it adapts to MAS. No workarounds, no duct-taped integrations, and no unused features cluttering the interface.
